Holiday Greetings

I love and hate airports, but mostly love them. Watching the anticipation of a holiday greeting makes me smile even though 99.99% of the people I witness smile, hug, or cry, I will never see again.

There’s just something about it. Let’s be honest, holiday travel isn’t easy sometimes and Mother Nature rarely cooperates so when families finally reunite after a long year (or more), it’s special.

Even Kevin Macallister’s Mom made it back home for the holidays after her son was nowhere to be found. I love how people make signs to welcome family and friends or members of the armed forces return and are greeted with respect, because their service should never go unnoticed.

At the airport, it’s amazing how recognizable someone’s face you know can look after witnessing hundreds and hundreds of unrecognizable ones.

Crowds thin as loved ones are reunited and others wait on because they arrived a little early for pickup. The human eye truly is a remarkable thing and when you finally catch a glimpse of the family member(s) or friend(s) you’ve been waiting for, the holiday season has officially begun.

This year might have been a difficult one for a slew of reasons. Maybe you lost a loved one, and the void feels like it’ll never be filled again. But, remember the joy and love they brought to the room because they’ll never be forgotten.

Stay safe and remember that no matter how you’re feeling this holiday season, you matter and you are loved.
